We have recently found out that our beautiful doggy, Foxy, has cancer.
Needless to say we are devastated.
I am not going to write too much, as I am too upset too write much, and I am trying to keep life as normal as possible.

Hello
How are you today? I hope you are all well and happy
I have more news about the County Shows I am going to enter
Well, in my last post, I wrote about the Seaburn Show that I am going to enter in September. I have the schedule for the crafts section of this Show ( I got it from the Chairwoman of the Women’s Guild that I go too, as she is involved with the crafts section of the Show ) , but am still waiting for the full schedule to be printed, and when it is, it will be getting posted out to me, and I can see what the baking and preserve categories are, so I can then decide what I want to enter into these categories, and see if there are any other categories of this particular Show I want to enter
So far, for the crafts section of this Show, I have decided to enter a bag, a flower corsage, a hat with a side decoration, and a Christmas tree skirt, and all my entries will be crocheted
So, at the moment, nearly all of my crochet ( apart from my weekend crochet, which is when I do something easier on a Friday and Saturday night, so I do not have to concentrate over the weekend, lol ), are possible entries for the Shows I wish to enter in September. I have crocheted one bag so far, which is a contender, and am now crocheting another bag, and when this is finished, I will decide between the two which I want to enter, and crochet it again in better thread ect… I will show you the first bag I have crocheted in just a moment
Anyway, I have also found out about another Show in September which I am going to enter. It is called The Herrington Village Show, and is about a mile from where we live, so not far at all to go too.
I have the full schedule for this Show, and have decided to enter the craft and cookery sections of this Show. For the craft section I am going to enter a small dressed doll ( as stated in the schedule ) with my dear Tiny Tears Doll, dressed in a crochet dress, which I will make for her in the next few months. I am very happy about this category, as my Tiny Tears Doll is so dear to me, I have had her for almost as long as I can remember, and my dear, wonderful grandad, who I was so very close too, gave her to me one Christmas when I was very young, and she has always been my favourite doll, and I would not part with her for the world. She has such dear memories attached to her, about my grandad and my childhood, so crocheting a pretty little dress for her and entering her in the Show will make me very happy
Another thing I am going to enter into the craft section of The Herrington Village Show, is something to commemorate our Queens Jubilee, I am still thinking about what to crochet for this.
And for the cookery section of The Herrington Village Show, I am definitely going to enter a small lemon drizzle cake ( as stated in the schedule ), perhaps a jar of strawberry jam ( I will have to see how well our strawberries do this year
), and perhaps a few other baked goods which are listed
The Seaburn Show has been on every year, for the past 25 years, and The Herrington Village Show has been going since at least the 1970′s, and I have only just found out about them, even though both Shows are practically on our doorstep! I found out about both through the Women’s Guild. I suppose you would not know about these Shows unless you were interested in them, and made enquiries, and it is only in the past year that I have become interested in entering Shows, so it is pure luck that I found out about them through the WG, good job I joined! ( I will become an official Guild member next Tuesday, when I go to May’s meeting and pay my subs
), so anyway, I am really looking forward to entering these Shows, and I am enjoying searching for patterns and making things for the Shows
I will keep you posted
On my last blog post, I posted piccies of my almost completed Vintage Roses and Leaves Doily, well, it is done now, and I love it
Here is a piccie of it whilst blocking…
and piccies of where it now lives, on top of one of my wool chests…
And here is the first of the two bags I am crocheting, as possible entries for the Seaburn Show. The pattern for this bag is called Topaz Purse, and there were so many mistakes in this pattern, so many in-fact, that the site that pattern was originally published on, has since taken it down, due to its many mistakes. But, I got there in the end, though I had to improvise on a bit of it
…..
Instead of crocheting the drawstring handles, I decided to thread a pretty pink ribbon through, and use this as my handles, and I lined the bag with a pretty dusty pink fabric….
The fabric in the bag, I hand hemmed, and then hand sewed into the bag…
So that is the first bag of the two, that are possible contenders to enter into the Seaburn Show. Once I have finished crocheting the other bag, which is this one……
( Which is called Venetian Opera Bag, and the pattern for this bag is from 1914! Nearly 100 years old!, ), I will decide between the two which I like the most, and re-crochet it in better thread, and use nicer material to line it
The Venetian Opera Bag I am now crocheting, with the pattern been so old, it is quite different, in how it is wrote and laid out, compared to modern patterns, so I have had to improvise on this pattern too on the centre of the bag ( the circle with the trebles in it ), I have done to my own pattern, and now, I am following the pattern precisely, as I want it to be as authentic as possible
Anyway, that’s all folks
For today anyway
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog, and leave your lovely comments
Take care everyone, bye for now
