Hello, good morning, afternoon or evening! How are you enjoying the Summer? Here in the UK,  we’re getting some nice days, and some not so nice days, so we are trying to make the most of thenice days  :) We went to a Roman Fort last week which was great, very interesting indeed, I love historical days out!

I wonder who this was in life? Every time we visit a museum, if there be human remains there, I always wonder about that persons life, who were they, what did they do in life, ect…

After seeing the living quaters for ordinary folk in this Roman Fort, I am quite certain that I definitely would not liked to have lived then!

We went to the sea front for chips after the Fort as we were close by and Julia loved her chips, a nice seaside treat :)

Last weekend I did some baking, apple pie, and jm tarts made with homemade strawberry jam, yum!

More books have been arriving, Christmas books for Julia, and two Alison Uttley books for myself, which I found going cheap on Amazon

Julia just loves the Cbeebies show, Katie Morag, so much so that we have treated her to the dvd, and book which the tv show is based on, the book we got her is the first four Katie Morag stories, so more will follow, as Julia just loves it!

I just love Katie Morag’s jumper! I plan on knitting Julia one when she is bit older :)

Speaking of knitting, I have finished the main part of Julia’s hearts and bunnies cardigan, and am now working on the sleeves, it is a little big, as I used DK instead of 4ply as stated in the pattern, but that is fine, it means it will fit Julia for longer :)

I love working on this cardigan at night! I am still crocheting the blanket for John’s mam and dad for Christmas, picking it up an doing a few rows every now and then.

At the moment I am reading again, for the umpteenth time, my all time favourite trilogy, Lark Rise To Candleford

I love these books and have read them so many times! These, as well as other books by Flora Thompson, the Miss Read books and Alison Uttley books are defiinitely my all time favourites! I am onto the last chapter of lark Rise, so tonight I’ll be starting Over To Candleford. I’ve also been watching Lark Rise To Candleford on dvd, and am just about finished series 2, I love wathing this beautiful, gentle period drama while knitting! This series is definitely one of my favourites to watch! This, along with Call the Midwife and The Darling Buds Of May are my favourite tv series :)

Well, I am going to print some patterns out just now whilst I am on the computer, and then get on with our day. I hope you all have  a lovely weekend!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog :)

Take care, bye for now xxx

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!

I hope your all having a wonderful Christmas Eve and I hope you have a fabulous Christmas Day tomorrow :)

This is only going to be a short post, as I have a load of things to do today :) So, without further ado, please, let me show you the things I have been baking for Christmas :)

As you all know, I love to bake :) So I have been baking for John and I, and for my dad and Pam, and Johns parents too :) For John and I, I baked a ginger cake covered in Cadburys Chocolate…

Gingerbread Christmas Tree’s…

And for John, a selection of almond biscuits including Christmas tree shaped ones (some have already been eaten before I took this photo, lol )

For Johns parents I baked them a big lemon sponge cake, filled and topped with lemon butter icing, then decorated with Christmas sprinkles….

(they loved it :) )

For Pam, I made her a Tiffin cake which she loves :)

And for my dad I baked him a lemon syrup cake (his favourite cake) but I forgot to take photos of it before I gave it to him :)

Also, John and I bottled our elderberry wine…

and gave a bottle to my dad and Pam, to Johns parents, and a bottle to our neighbours :)

And I took the blackberries out of the freezer, which I picked and froze a few months ago, and made more blackberry jam, and gave the smaller jar to Pam, as she loves it :)

I have also finished crocheting all of my Christmas gifts :) Here is the blanket I crocheted for Johns parents……

I put a Cathedral Edge Border on it, and it is a king-size blanket….

I have also crocheted another 2 pairs of his and her matching slippers, for my dad and Pam….

Some hair-bands / ear-warmers for Pam, one is in chunky cream wool, kept plain, the other is in navy blue with a crocheted flower sewn on, and the last is made in neutral, flecked wool, in the Chevron stitch :)

And I have crocheted Pam a plain beret as I already have crocheted her a fancy red beret ( you can see that in this post ), so I thought a plain one would be nice too..

And I have crocheted my dad and Pam a hankie box cover as they always have a box of hankies in their sitting room, so I thought it would be nice to crochet them a cover for it, and I have crocheted them in colours to match their sitting room décor….

And finally, I have also crocheted Johns parents a hankie box cover (of course they and my dad and Pam will be getting a box of hankies, with the cover on, not just the cover, lol ) to match their sitting room décor :)

And all the pressies are wrapped and ready to put under the tree, or to take to Johns parents house tomorrow :) ( you can see the other presents I have crocheted in this post here and in this post here ) In the morning John and I will have a lovely Christmas morning together, then my dad and Pam are coming for Christmas Breakfast, and we will all exchange gifts, then in the afternoon, John and I are going to Johns parents for Christmas Dinner and to exchange gifts, then come home and have a lovely night together, just the two of us, and on Boxing Day John and I will have our ‘second Christmas Dinner’, just the two of us :)

Okey dokey, I am going to finish cleaning, finish baking, change the bedding, have a bath and put my new pyjamas and slippers on, put the pressies under the tree, and sit down with my darling John to have a lovely Christmas Eve together, eating lovely scrumptious food, and watching Christmassy things on TV :)

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas :) :) :) :)
