My oh my! It has been a while since I did a blog post, again I have been sadly neglectful of my little blog, but I do have an excuse this time, I have been feeling poorly for quite a while, so have not been online much, but thankfully I am starting to feel a little better now, so I thought it was high time I did a new blog post :)

Been poorly, and staying home a lot, has given me the perfect excuse to look over all my lovely  childhood books, and to also buy a few new ones :) I have always been a great reader, and because of this, I had quite a selection of books when I was younger, I had so many Enid Blyton books, Flower Fairy books, Beatrix Potter, Brambley Hedge, all kinds, and I treasured them all. When I moved out and set up a home of my own with my darling husband, I asked my mother to please keep all of my books until I have made room for them in our new home. Alas, she did not listen to me, she gave my books away to charity, which greatly saddened me. So now, I am trying my best to re-build my collection of childhood books :)

I did manage to save some books from my mother, favourite books which I took with me as soon as I moved out, as I could not bear to be apart from them, they were my Beatrix Potter books ( the big book with all the Beatrix Potter books in one, and also my little pocket size Beatrix Potter books, all of which my dear grandad gave to me ), my Brambley Hedge books and a few others.

So I have been going through my childhood books, in my mind, and in my book room, remembering the many hours of pleasure they gave me, and feeling happy that once again, I am building my collection of favourite childhood books :)

I have recently bought Milly Molly Mandy  Second Omnibus, as this book has the hard to get hold of Milly Molly Mandy and Co, and Milly Molly Mandy and Billy Blunt books included in it, and with these two books been hard to get hold of, they tend to be quite expensive, especially the Billy Blunt one, so I did some research and found that this omnibus edition, published in the 1970′s, actually has these books included, and it works out much cheaper buying this, than buying these books separately :)

I have also ordered the Milly Molly Mandy First Omnibus too, so that I have the matching set of these charming books. I have a few more books on order, when they arrive, I will certainly do a post on them :)

I love the Milly Molly Mandy books, they are full of such charm and innocence, set in a world which is lost to us today. When I want to escape, and spend a few happy hours in total innocence, where everyone is nice to one another, and help each other, where the sun is nearly always shining, and everything is centred around the home and the hearth, I turn to my Milly Molly Mandy books :) I just love the drawings in these books too

The drawings in the Brambley Hedge and Beatrix Potter books are delightful too, and I never tire of looking at them

And also this book, The Hedgehog Feast ( which I managed to take before my mother gave my books away ), which is by the author of The Diary Of An Edwardian Lady, Edith Holden, and which I have had for many years, it is a lovely little story, with delightful illustrations

I also took this next book with me as soon as I moved out, as it is quite precious to me, I have always loved this book

Each page has a pull out treat for you, making this book extra special :)

And here are a few piccies of some children’s books I have recently acquired, to help build up my lost collection :)

I have also recently bought this absolutely delightful recipe book, which has some mouth watering recipes in which I can not wait to try :)

Other favourites, which are not from my childhood, but are books I have discovered over the past few years, are my Miss Read books,  my Alison Uttley books and my Susan Hill books. I love these authors, and their books are so perfectly homely, domestic and cosy, you can never tire of them :)

Whilst talking about childhood favourites, I thought I would share with you these

My dear grandads neighbour so kindly gave me these cards when I was very young, and from the moment she handed them to me, I have always loved them! I remember I used to copy the drawings onto larger pieces of paper, and hang these in my room, now I think I will copy the drawings but in crochet, creating some lovely and very cute woodland crocheted creatures :)

Whilst on the subject of crochet, I must confess that I have not been doing much of late, feeling unwell left me too tired to crochet, but on the days I felt ok, I did do a little of something, and eventually I have finished it :) A lovely new, multi coloured tea cosy, so I have been enjoying looking through my books, with a pot of tea encased in it’s new cover, and some home made cornflake nest cakes by my side :)

Now that I am starting to feel better, I am hoping to get my crochet back on track, starting right now :)

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, bye for now everyone :)
